Application

The decals are easy to install. There are two methods – Vintage Style and Modern Style.

If you want the decal on top of the finish vintage style (Fender did it this way through the mid-60's), the process is very simple . Just cut out the shape, soak in water, apply to the headstock, press out any air bubble, let it dry and you're done. Please be aware that the decal edge will be visible and the surface smoothness will not match the headstock. It will also scratch off. That's all normal for a vintage instrument.

If you want to bury the decal under the finish as seen on modern Fender headstocks, you will need to spray additional coats of clear finish over the entire headstock after applying the decal, wet sand it, and then polish it. The result will be a very professional look and the decal edge will not be visible. This process is not difficult, but will take a few days to complete.
